Freelancing Realities
Two of the most pressing issues that cause freelancers a headache, are payments and time management. Read on, you’ll realize it’s not as bad as you think.
Transactions made easy
The {company name} people are working on providing you with the easiest way to invoice and receive payment whether you are in a long-term position or just doing some gig-work on the side. Having one issue out of the way, let’s focus on ways to manage time and still have some freedom to procrastinate or as a matter of fact, shower.
Guilt-free days
First of all, thinking time is also productive time. You shouldn’t feel guilty or stressed if it’s 3pm and you haven’t got anything to show. Some people take their time to contemplate an idea and then it takes them about thirty minutes to spill. See what works for you before you go too hard on yourself. Everyone’s different.
The stretch myth
You must know by now that getting up every hour to stretch is not real. Who gets up every hour? Nobody. Try putting you glass of water far enough so you get up when thirsty. Perhaps do the same with your phone. It’s a good trick to get you moving every now and then, plus you avoid frequent phone distractions.
Chew your food
It’s OK if you need to run to the grocery store, have a shower, sit down for a proper lunch. You need this time. Take it. You are freelancing! This means you can chew your food! Do it! Plan a few longer breaks during your day to practice self-care. It gives you enough breathing space to boost your productivity.
Never the same
Some days you are full of inspiration, energy, you tick all your daily goal boxes. Some days you just about make it to your desk space. It’s part of being human. Mondays and Tuesdays are usually better, Fridays also work well with working mood. That’s all generic findings though, tweak it and find yours if you haven’t already.
Timing is key
Find the right time of the day for you. If mornings don’t work don’t pressure yourself to start early. Start when you feel like it and stop when you’re satisfied with your day’s work. Do not overwork yourself, set a limit. If it’s not a good day or there’s a party on the flat under yours, stop. Join them if you can’t beat them.
