How to manage multiple gigs at the same time

As a freelancer, one of your main challenges is managing time, which directly affects

the number of gigs you are able to take on. It’s hard to say no when people ask for your genius expertise, but what happens when you get carried away and find your plate too full?

Needless to say, don’t panic. It’s too late now, you can’t go back. You basically have to suck it up and do the work. Look at your gigs as pieces of a puzzle. Is it possible to prioritize according to delivery dates? Can you extend some of the deadlines? Try out different combinations, see which way the pieces fit together.

Assign time slots for every project on the same day. Switch when the time is up and have your breaks in between to disconnect. It takes the commitment of a soldier but you have to get yourself out of this situation with the best possible work to show.

Worse comes to worst, hire a freelancer to do some of the work for you but make sure you learn your lesson. Sometimes editing another person’s work takes longer. If you don’t have a partner already, it could prove challenging. Only resort to this solution if in extreme need. And don’t tell anybody. Just kidding. Well…

Eventually, you will get better at this, your income will have a better flow and the stress will be less. Wired know this, they’re supporters of happy freelancers. They know many who made it. It's hard at first, it might take a few busy months before you start saying no. Eventually you will reach the much-needed work-life balance you’re probably fighting for now, if you’re still on this article. Good luck with your deadlines! You rock! Now go get them.
